New buzzword from Germany: "cross:media"

The irresistable inclination to invent new jargon sometimes helps us describe new things in a better way but sometimes just adds to the confusion. Color Electronic Prepress Systems, Corporate Electronic Publishing Systems (both called CEPS); new, digital and/or interactive media; clickstream research and, one of the worse, pre-publishing.

In Hamburg in June I spoke at a well-organized conference called cross:media, a synthesis of all media formats from traditional litho to interactive VR. Because it didn't focus on gizmos, it was a very good big picture perspective. Apparently the term is big in Europe; I think I like it.
